NIFL to investigate Institute substitution during Premiership win over Ards
The NI Football League has confirmed that it will investigate a substitution made by Institute during Friday evening's win over Ards.
Stute eased to a 3-0 success in Bangor but questions were raised over their 82nd minute change.
Thomas McBride was brought on to replace Jamie McIntyre. Institute originally listed McBride in their team before kick-off, before removing him. They intended to place him on the bench but he was not listed on the IFA's online Comet system.
NIFL will now speak to both clubs as they look to get to the bottom of the matter.
Under Danske Bank Premiership rules, clubs must input their team line-up via the online system not later than 75 minutes before kick-off.
Referee Tony Clarke informed the media he believed Institute had not broken any rules.
The Ards board were not prepared to comment, but Institute are confident they have done nothing wrong, with interim manager Kevin Doherty stating: “We took Tommy off the team and put him on the bench. We told the referee and we informed Ards, so as far as we’re concerned we have done nothing wrong.”

If Institute are found to have breached Premiership rules, they will forfeit the three points with Ards awarded a 3-0 victory.
