Manager Niall Currie leaves Portadown after disappointing run

Portadown and manager Niall Currie have parted company.

The County Armagh club have won just one of their last six games after drawing 0-0 with H&W Welders on Saturday afternoon.

Shortly after the game, the club announced Currie's departure. First team coach Trevor Williamson will take charge of the team until a permanent replacement is found.

They've been victorious in only 10 of their 25 Championship games to date this season after suffering relegation last term.

A club statement read: "Portadown FC wishes to announce that Niall Currie & the club have parted company.

"We thank Niall for his commitment to the club over the last 14 months and wish him well for the future.

"An announcement regarding the managers position at Portadown FC will be made in due course."
