Seven up as lofty Villagers soar

Loughgall stretched their unbeaten start to a magnificent seven games to claim outright leadership of the Championship.

A goal in each half from Peter Campbell and strikes from Scott McCullough and Jamie Rea earned a 4-0 win over Queen's University.

At Shamrock Park, Portadown ended Dundela's unbeaten run with a 2-0 victory that came courtesy of goals by Paddy McNally and Lee Bonis.

PSNI scored twice within four minutes midway through the first half of their trip to Ballyclare Comrades who, despite pulling one back through Gary Donnelly, couldn't find an equaliser.

Newry City manager Darren Mullen was able to toast his 250th game in charge of the club with a victory when a late goal from Stephen McCavitt gave them the three points away to Ballinamallard United.

Dergview recorded their second victory of the campaign when they beat Ards 3-1, who had led thanks to Caoimhin McConnell.

Dergs player-boss Ivan Sproule levelled and Matthew Callaghan gave the hosts the lead before Andy Sproule secured the win.

Knockbreda led twice against H&W Welders, Alex Pomeroy and David Fearon scoring, with Matthew Ferguson - who has returned on loan from Glenavon - levelling each time in a 2-2 draw at Breda Park.

RESULTS: Ballinamallard 1 Newry 0, Ballyclare 1 PSNI 2, Dergview 3 Ards 1, Knockbreda 2 H&W Welders 2, Portadown 2 Dundela 0, Queen's Uni 0 Loughgall 4.
