Super Duns showing no signs of slowing down after cuffing PSNI

By Conor McLaughlin

Dundela maintained their perfect start to the season with a 2-1 victory over PSNI on Saturday.

Chris Watts netted twice in the first-half to set the Duns on their way to another three-point haul and, though the hosts pulled one back after the interval, the east Belfast side were comfortable victors at Newforge.

Carrick Rangers have, by contrast, endured a miserable return to the Championship following their relegation in May, but shook off the early cobwebs to bank their first win of the campaign courtesy of Michael Smith's brace at Knockbreda.

Portadown were also 2-0 winners away from home when they saw off the challenge of Harland & Wolff Welders.

Kevin Braniff's precision pass teed Adam Salley up to lob goalkeeper Ryan Brown before Jamie Douglas struck to complete the scoring.

Result of the day, meanwhile, came at Ferney Park, where Dergview rocked Ballinamallard United with a 4-1 triumph.

Peter Allen broke the deadlock and, though Aaron Arkinson levelled against his former club, second-half goals from Gareth Falconer and Philip Wallace put the Castlederg men in control ahead of Sean McEvoy's own goal.

On Friday night, Larne scrambled a last-minute winner to defeat Loughgall 3-2 at Lakeview Park and Ballyclare Comrades were held to a 1-1 draw by Limavady United.
