Swifts young at heart
New Dungannon Swifts manager Rodney McAree has pledged to give the club's young players a chance to impress in the coming weeks.
He faces Ballymena United this evening (7.45) in his first home match in charge since replacing Dixie Robinson last week.
At 37 McAree is one of the league's youngest managers, and he has vowed that age will not be a barrier when it comes to selecting his team.
"I made a statement to the players on Thursday night that if they are good enough, they are old enough," he said. "That is my outlook and if I feel a player is ready I will push him through."
McAree's first game in charge was a 2-0 loss at Crusaders on Saturday, which saw Dungannon slip to third from bottom.
His team selection included Liam Donnelly who, at just 15 years of age, is one of the youngest players ever to feature in the Irish League.
"The performance of Liam Donnelly was one of the highlights of the game," he added. "He is a strong boy, a great passer of the ball."
