Carnbane League round-up, November 16

Following Saturday’s Irish Junior Cup third round programme, the Carnbane League has only two remaining teams going into the fourth round draw.

Windmill Stars retained their unbeaten run for the season when they accounted for Kircubbin 4-1, while Orchard City had a 2-0 win over Basement YM.

Kircubbin showed promise in their game with Windmill and their passing at times was impressive, but it got them nowhere and Windmill, with the more direct football, got the goals that counted and ended the winning side.

This coming Saturday sees the third round stage in the Mid Ulster Shield, and Windmill Stars will be in action against local rivals Villa Rovers, while Orchard travel to meet tough opponents in Seapatrick.

Ballybot United and Crieve Rovers also have home ties, but the pick of the programme could well be the clash of Millburn United and visiting Kilkeel, while the Greenfield Park and Bessbrook United game offers plenty of excitement. Elsewhere, Woodside will be hoping to put their poor league form to one side when they travel to meet Cookstown Celtic.
