Carnbane round-up September 16

Millburn United, from Carnbane Division One, were the shock winners when they scored a stunning 3-1 win over visiting Newry Celtic in the quarter-final stage of the Kehoe Cars Bessbrook Cup.

They now go into the semi-final draw along with big guns, Windmill Stars (holders), Bessbrook United and last season's beaten finalists, Orchard City.

Millburn, who also defeated Ballybot United (another Premier Division team) on the way to the semi-finals, produced an outstanding display to deservedly win the game. Their goal-scorers were Tommy McNally, Ruairi Murdock and Packie McNulty. Gerard Murphy was the Newry Celtic scorer.

In the Premier Division Championship, Windmill Stars continued their unbeaten run when they defeated Woodside 3-2.

Kilkeel Athletic gained their first Premier Division point of the season when they drew 1-1 with Crieve Rovers.

Ballybot United secured three very useful points when they travelled to Jimmy Steen Park, Newtownhamilton, where they defeated Whitecross AFC 4-1.

Liam Smith bagged the Whitecross goal, while Shea McAllister had an outstanding game for Ballybot United, scoring a hat-trick. Gavin McLoughlin was the other scorer.
