Down Area Winter Football League round-up, December 5

With the severe weather, it's a wonder any games were played, so well done to those clubs who managed to get their games on.

In the Premier Division last week, we saw Greenwell Star seize the opportunity to put a gap between themselves and second-placed Moat Park Rangers, but it was role reversal this week, as Moat Park matched what Greenwell had done when they defeated Bangor Rangers III 10-1, to join their close rivals at the top of the division, so there's nothing to choose between these two fierce rivals.

In Division 1, Agape maintained their excellent unbeaten league form and created some breathing space with a five-point gap at the top, as they edged Queens Grads III in a seven-goal thriller 4-3.

In Division 2A, the only surviving game saw 3rd Bangor II secure a 3-1 away win against Agape II. In Division 2B, Clonduff II remain top, following a 2-2 draw with 8th OB II and Comber YM II continued their rejuvenation with an 8-1 thrashing of Newtownards RBL II to maintain their own push for automatic promotion.

In the Jigsaw Financial Billy Allen Memorial Shield, Brentwood progressed to the next round, following a resounding win at Newtownards RBL 5-1 and Newtown Forest joined them in the next round, as they thumped Comber YM 9-2.

In the Mervyn Bassett Reserve Team Cup, Oakfield Breda secured their place in the next round, as they edged past Corrymeela II 3-2.
