Down Area Winter Football League round-up, November 15

It seems as though last season's nail-biting title triumph may have taken its toll on Moat Park Rangers.

The Billy Neill side are familiar with pushing for top spot, however, this year they have reached the mid-way point of the campaign in seventh place and are a long way off the fight for the championship.

On Saturday, they fell to another defeat as they took on Brentwood at home, meaning that, bar a minor miracle in the remaining 12 games of the season, the Premier Division trophy will almost certainly be changing hands come May.

Willowfield Parish were on the receiving end of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of North Down, Corrymeela continued their great run of form with a 2-1 win over Ravenhill YM, while Greenwell overcame Comber star 5-3 at Dairy Hall Playing Fields.

In Division One, Ards Rangers III and Stranmillis 37th OB played out a gripping 4-4 draw, Agapé came away with a 5-2 win in their game over Bangor YM III and 82nd defeated Ballywalter Rec III 6-3.

The Sittlington Cup continued this week with Clandeboye YM and Ballygowan progressing at the expense of Bangor Ranger III and Oakfield Breda.

Division 2A saw Vision Athletic II draw 2-2 with Comber YM II and Ravenhill YM draw 2-2 with 3rd Bangor OB II, while in Division 2B, Stranmillis 37th OB II defeated Bangor YM IV 6-0, Comber Star II defeated Queen's Graduates IV 5-2 and 8th OB II's game against Agapé ended in a 3-3 draw.
