McClellan hat-trick helps Welders to another victory

The Welders gained another three points but were subjected to a rousing comeback by Ballyclare in an entertaining game. The visitors went ahead in the seventeenth minute when Cooper netted.

McClellan got the first of his hat trick when he equalised three minutes later. Both sides had chances to increase their lead but it stayed scoreless to the interval.

Within just eight minutes of the restart, David Rainey nabbed the Welders second goa,l slotting it home from a Magennis corner kick. With the home side beginning to dominate, the Welders got a penalty, but Flood saved it from William Armstrong.

The home team were calling the shots by now, and McClellan scored a beauty sending in a 25-yarder over the top of the hapless Flood.

With the Welders now running the show at this stage, Ballyclare introduced their substitute Trussell and he shook things up for them notching two goals within a few moments. It was now a battle, as Ballyclare were up for it and with 10 minutes remaining, McClellan got his hat trick to ensure maximum points.
