Gray deflated as Point fail to hold on for battling draw
Warrenpoint Town 0 Larne 2
Warrenpoint Town boss Barry Gray cut a frustrated figure after his side's home defeat to Larne.
With just five minutes left, Gray was content. Town had largely blunted the Larne attack and, when Tiernan Lynch's side did create opportunities, impressive young goalkeeper Mark Byrne and the defence stood strong to keep the visitors at bay.
Then came a right wing cross from Christopher Ramsey and, with space in the box, Davy McDaid tapped in the opening goal.
Having worked so hard, no wonder Warrenpoint heads went down before McDaid's second in injury-time sealed the deal.
With Institute drawing at Dungannon, Warrenpoint will travel to the Brandywell on Boxing Day four points adrift of Sean Connor's side.
On the loss to Larne, Gray stated: "We should have got a point and a clean sheet.
"Before they scored, we had a chance then three minutes later, after a lapse in concentration from us, they went ahead.

"It looked like a game where one mistake might make the difference and, unfortunately for us, we were on the wrong side of that. The second goal I can take a wee bit because we were firing players forward but the first goal was disappointing.
"I'm not frustrated by the efforts of the players and their performance levels. I'm just frustrated by the outcome.
"The players dish out the maximum they have. We don't have selection headaches and we don't have a panel deep enough to give any players a break.
"I have to keep asking them to deliver until I get in new players in January, not to replace the existing players which is a key thing to say but to help them because of the numbers we have."
Larne boss Lynch was pleased with his hard working side.
"People talk about this league and how competitive is," he said.
"Ballymena came to Warrenpoint and lost as did Coleraine. They may be bottom of the league but no match is a gimme so we are happy to pick up the three points and move on."
