Healy thrilled as Blues soar to top spot

By Gareth McCullough

Linfield manager David Healy admitted the turning point of last night's 4-1 victory over Warrenpoint Town was the penalty his side were awarded just before the hour.

With the sides deadlocked after Martin Murray had cancelled out Aaron Burns' opener, the Blues were awarded a spot kick after Seanna Foster was adjudged to have fouled Jamie Mulgrew. Striker Louis Rooney converted and then added another before Mark Stafford completed the scoring.

"Right up until the hour, it wasn't as comfortable as it seems," said Healy, whose side moved to the top of the Premiership - until 4.45pm this afternoon at the very least.

"I know the Warrenpoint bench were slightly disappointed with the penalty incident but, in this day and age, you can't tackle with the force and the follow through and for me it was a stonewall penalty. That gave us a bit of a platform to go on and win the game."
