Warrenpoint plan to appeal Murray ban to help ease league woes
Warrenpoint Town will appeal a four-game ban issued to Darren Murray.
The striker was sent off in successive league games against Coleraine and Glentoran recently.
Boss Matthew Tipton confirmed the club will look to have the punishment reduced. "Darren has had a four-game suspension and we've appealed it," he said.
Meanwhile, Warrenpoint's league struggles continued as they crashed to a sixth defeat in seven at Dungannon.
Chris Hegarty netted the winner at Stangmore Park.
The Swifts took the lead with Ryan Harpur breaking from midfield to score from close range.
However, Lorcan Forde hit back for Warrenpoint. The home side dominated the possession and the chances, but it took until the 75th minute to make it tell.
Sub Thomas Lockhart's cross was touched on for Hegarty, who finished smartly.
Tipton was pleased with parts of Warrenpoint's performance, but admitted the Swifts' goals had come too easily.
"We haven't defended when we needed to," he said.
Dungannon boss Rodney McAree said: "We could have been 3-0 up at the break and had two good chances at the start of the second half."
