Watch: Gavin Whyte smashes home spectacular strike on full League One debut for Oxford United

Gavin Whyte is Oxford United's joint top scorer after netting two goals in his first two starts for the club.

His second goal arrived last night as Whyte fired home a spectacular opening goal during the 3-2 defeat to Accrington Stanley.

Irish League fans won't be surprised to see the quality of this strike that blasted into the top corner 27 minutes into Whyte's full League One debut. Fast forward to 20 seconds to see Gavin's goal:

The former Crusaders winger had already got off the mark for this new club when he tucked a finish through the goalkeeper's legs in his side's 2-0 League Cup win over Coventry City earlier this month.

Whyte is now Oxford's joint top-scorer this season, alongside fellow new signing Marcus Browne, who arrived from West Ham.

Whyte, 22, scored 23 times for Crusaders last season and was named the Danske Bank Premiership's Footballer of the Year as he earned his move into full-time football.

He is yet to receive a full Northern Ireland cap, although was on the bench for the friendlies against Panama and Costa Rica earlier this summer.

Oxford currently sit bottom of League One, having lost all of their opening four league fixtures.
