Isco claims he lacks confidence when playing for Real Madrid

The midfielder, who scored a hat-trick for Spain, wants his club manager Zinedine Zidane to show more confidence in him.

Real Madrid midfielder Isco insists he lacks confidence when playing for Real Madrid despite scoring a hat-trick for Spain in their 6-1 win over Argentina on Tuesday night.

Isco proved his worth for his country with his first senior treble, but playing for his club leaves the 25-year-old frustrated.

Isco signed a new contract in September to keep him at the Bernabau Stadium until June 2022, but he feels he has yet to win the confidence of Zinedine Zidane.

“In Madrid, I don’t have the confidence a player needs,” Isco is quoted as saying on Marca’s website following Spain’s emphatic victory.

“The matches with the national side give me life, here I have the confidence of the coach. I want to show I am a good player.

“(Spain coach Julen) Lopetegui shows me confidence with the minutes he gives me. Maybe I’m the problem in Madrid. I don’t know how to win Zidane’s confidence.”
