James McClean donates commentary fee to charity in memory of late Derry City captain
Republic of Ireland and Stoke City winger James McClean has donated the proceeds from a commentary gig to the Ryan McBride Foundation.
The foundation was set up following the sudden death of Derry City captain Ryan McBride in March 2017.
It works to help young people in Londonderry achieve their full potential.
McClean provided commentary for eir Sport's coverage of the EA Sports Cup final between Derry City and Cobh Ramblers at the Brandywell in September.
The ex-Derry City player honoured his former team-mate following McBride's death by wearing his number five jersey in a friendly appearance for the Republic of Ireland.
A spokesperson from the Ryan McBride Foundation thanked McClean for his support on Twitter, saying the player and his wife had been "great supporters" of the group.
