Derry City are on the look-out for a new manager after announcing that the club have parted company with Kenny Shiels.

The club finished eighth in the 10-team League of Ireland, finishing off the season with a 5-0 hammering at the hands of St Pat's on Friday evening.

Derry City announced the manager's departure less than 24 hours later.

"We acknowledge Kenny’s contribution to the Football Club over the past three seasons, one of which was particularly difficult," said a club statement.

"We wish Kenny the best for the future. The club will make no further comment on the issue."

Derry did beat Cobh Ramblers to win the League of Ireland Cup last month, the only silverware of Shiels' three-year spell in charge.
