Crumlin’s Caoimhin McConnell will be living a young footballer’s dream this week, after winning a place to play football on the world famous turf at Old Trafford.
cConnell who currently plays on the wing for Lisburn Youth Under 11’s will take to the pitch at Manchester United’s Theatre of Dreams during ‘Champion’s Day’ on Sunday May 15.
The 10 year old St Joseph’s Primary School pupil took part in a ‘Player Development Course’ run by Manchester United Soccer Schools in Belfast in 2010, and as one of the top performers Caoimhin has been awarded with an exclusive prize.
He will join approximately 50 children from around the UK to take part in a specialist football workshop at Old Trafford, with top coaches at Manchester United Soccer Schools, enjoy a backstage tour of the stadium, and even make the trip down the club’s sacred tunnel and onto the pitch.
In addition the children will enjoy a trip to the Man Utd training centre at Carrington where they will play a mini tournament.
Caoimhin said “I had such a great time at the soccer school last year and I cant believe that I have been chosen to play at Old Trafford on Champions Day. ”
