Matty Blair comes back to haunt Worthington

York City 0 Fleetwood 1

Matty Blair dealt former club and Nigel Worthington's York City a major blow by scoring the only goal to give Fleetwood a slender 1-0 advantage in this rescheduled Sky Bet League Two play-off semi-final first leg.

Blair, signed by Fleetwood when out of contract last summer after turning down a new deal from York, bundled home a 50th-minute winner almost two years after scoring the goal that sent the Minstermen back into the Football League.

The 23-year-old winger struck York's winner against Luton in the Conference play-off final in 2012, but cared little for his Wembley heroics as he forced in Antoni Sarcevic's shot from close range.

Fleetwood, promoted as Conference champions the same year York ended their eight-year Football League exile, were forced to ride a storm for spells in the second half, but their more enterprising football just about merited a one-goal lead to take back to Highbury on Friday.
