Messi makes history with sixth Ballon d'Or
Barcelona's superstar forward Lionel Messi claimed a record sixth Ballon d'Or crown at the 64th ceremony in Paris last night.
Argentina ace Messi moves ahead of great rival Cristiano Ronaldo to take outright ownership of the Ballon d'Or record haul. Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk came second, while Juventus' Ronaldo was third.
Messi struck 54 goals for club and country in the 2018-19 season.
Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt lifted the Kopa Trophy for the young player award as USA forward Megan Rapinoe won the women's accolade.
