Michael McLellan scored yet another hat-trick to secure H&W Welders' passage into the final of the Steel & Sons Cup.

McLellan, who scored nine goals in an earlier round against Rathcoole, scored an impressive treble as the Welders cruised past Sport & Leisure Swifts in the semi-final at Seaview.

Mark Magennis, Scott Davidson an Chris Middleton got the other goals in a 6-1 win that set-up an intriguing Christmas morning final against Carrick Rangers.

Magennis gave the Welders the lead in the 12th minute with a crisp strike from 20 yards.

Pat McAllister's men were back on level terms in the 17th minute when Darren Gallagher met a cross on the edge of the six-yard box, but it was Welders' Craig Harris who got the final touch.

The Welders regained the lead in the 28th minute when Nugent parried a McLellan shot into the path of Scott Davidson, who couldn't miss from 10 yards.

Two minutes into the second half Magennis split the Sport defence with a sensational 40-yard pass that was expertly controlled and finished by McLellan and he scored his second from the penalty spot in the 70th minute, after Davidson had been fouled in the area.

McLellan turned provider in the 79th minute, crossing for Chris Middleton to head home before he completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute with a deft chip.
