Newcastle offer would tempt Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan

Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan has admitted he would have to consider any offer from a club like Newcastle.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who is currently celebrating his club's third successive SSE Airtricity title triumph with a call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Austria, has been linked with the current Sky Bet Championship leaders.

He insists there is no offer currently on the table from any club, but knows it would be hard to reject an overture from Rafael Benitez.

Asked about the reported interest from St James' Park, Horgan said: "I don't know, really. To be honest with you, I try to stay out of it as much as I possibly can.

"Look, it's very easy to say you're interested; it's very different to put at offer on the table and at the minute, there are no offers on the table.

"I'm a Dundalk player, I'm very happy at Dundalk, but as I said, if an offer does come in from somewhere, I'd have to consider it, especially something like a massive club like Newcastle."
