Party's over as NI girls hit for six by Germans
The dream is over for Northern Ireland's brave and battling girls after they were dumped out of the Uefa Women's Under-19 Championship last night.
Alfie Wylie's side were hit for six by clinical Germany at the Ballymena Showgrounds - leaving Northern Ireland, who are hosting the tournament for the first time, bottom of Group A with one point.
The Germans, one of the favourites for the tournament, were 3-0 up at half-time and swept aside the girls in green in the second half, scoring another three goals without reply.
It was a tough loss, but Wylie is adamant his young guns will continue to fire and make a real dent in the women's game for Northern Ireland.
Wylie stated: "These players' careers don't end after this game, quite the opposite.
"People will be talking about these girls, writing about them and covering their progress as top players for Northern Ireland, and hopefully playing across the water as well, for years to come."
