Blues complete trio of signings

Birmingham have announced the signing of Chile international Jean Beausejour on a three-year deal.

On a busy day for Blues, the winger joined Alex McLeish's side for an undisclosed fee from Club America in Mexico.

Beausejour joined defender Martin Jiranek and midfielder Alexander Hleb in arriving at the club on Tuesday.

Beausejour, 26, is an exciting left-sided attacker who plays primarily on the left but also up front and had an impressive World Cup campaign.

McLeish told "Beausejour is an excellent, left-sided midfielder who had a tremendous World Cup with Chile - he was their star player against Spain - and also played very well in a pre-season friendly against Manchester City recently.

"He has been on our list of targets for a long time because he is strong and quick with the ability to beat his man and get crosses in."

Earlier, McLeish completed the signing of former Barcelona midfielder Hleb on season-long loan.

The 29-year-old made 89 appearances for Arsenal before leaving the club to join Barcelona two years ago. The Belarus international has struggled for first-team football in Catalonia, however, and was also farmed out on a season-long loan the German side Stuttgart last season.

Manager Alex McLeish described Hleb's arrival as a "major signing", less than a week after they missed out on securing the services of Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia.

"Hleb is a top quality player - one who at one stage we'd only actually dreamed about really," McLeish told the club's official website "Over the past year or so we have talked about him but with no real belief we could get him. We decided to give it a try and towards the end of the window we found out it might be possible."
