Brendan Rodgers heading back to Swansea?

Brendan Rodgers could be set for an Anfield return next season - with Swansea City. Reports suggest the former Liverpool boss has agreed to manage the Welsh club for a second spell from the start of next season.

The 43-year-old Ulsterman has chosen to stay out of work since his sacking at Liverpool last October but now appears to be heading back to the Liverty Stadium where he left to join the Reds in 2012.

Francesco Guidolin remains in charge of the Swans until May but is not expected to stay on in Wales with some reports suggesting the 60-year-old is among the candidates to replace Antonio Conte as Italy head coach.

It is said that Rodgers' return to Swansea is such a foregone conclusion that he has even drawn up a shortlist of players who the Premier League club are looking into before the end of the campaign.

After a season of struggle at the depths of the table, the Swans now appear safe from the threat of relegation following three wins in four, including the 2-1 victory against Arsenal at the Emirates earlier this month.

The Carnlough man will take over the reins for the next season - even though he was installed last week as some bookies' favourite to become the next England manager.
