Burnley can raise toast to Premier League

By Robert Jones

Burnley sealed automatic promotion to the Premier League as two first-half goals ensured a 2-0 win over Wigan and sparked mass celebrations at Turf Moor.

Ashley Barnes opened the scoring for Sean Dyche's side in the 22nd minute before Michael Kightly doubled the advantage shortly before half-time.

The Clarets are now eight points clear of third-placed Derby with two games to play, meaning they return to the top flight after being relegated in 2010.

QPR scored two late goals to snatch a 2-1 victory over Watford and confirm their place in the Championship play-offs.

Mathias Ranegie put the visitors in front early in the second half, but Joey Barton equalised 14 minutes from the end and Charlie Austin completed the comeback with a last-minute winner.

Meanwhile Wolves won the League One title after they beat Leyton Orient and Brentford were held at MK Dons.

Stevenage were relegated to League Two following a 3-1 defeat at home to Bristol City.
