Burnley look to Laws

Brian Laws looks set to become the new manager at Burnley.

The Clarets had stated yesterday that they had earmarked Laws and Doncaster boss Sean O’Driscoll as their two main targets, but reports emerging from Turf Moor last night indicated that the former Sheffield Wednesday manager had been chosen to replace Owen Coyle.

Laws, who began his playing career at Burnley 30 years ago and made 125 appearances for the Clarets, left Wednesday by mutual consent in December after a poor run of results which saw the Owls slump into the relegation zone.

However, the 48-year-old impressed Burnley chiefs during their meeting and he is being given a second interview in which he is likely to be offered the post.
