Chelsea's John Terry will miss the game at Manchester City tonight as he has a calf problem.

It is not connected to the knee injury that troubled him earlier this year his manager Roberto Di Matteo said yesterday. Since playing for almost 100 minutes against Napoli last Wednesday, Terry has been unable to train fully. "It is still a bit early for him," Di Matteo said. "He did very well to come back in such a short period of time. He played two intense games and it is obviously a reaction to that, it was cramp in the calf."

Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunchtime and Di Matteo is confident of having his captain back then. "I expect him to be OK for the weekend," he said. "It is just a short-term thing."

Di Matteo intends to keep the game tight tonight against City. "I think it is going to be a game where we have to try to prevent Manchester City from expressing themselves," he said. "They have so many good players everywhere. We need to have good organisation."

The Chelsea youth-team player Jacob Mellis yesterday left the club. The 21-year-old admitted setting off a smoke grenade at the club's training ground.
