Chelsea v Brighton - story of the match

Goals from Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso secured a 2-0 win for Chelsea at home to Brighton.

Morata broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half and Alonso struck on the hour to sink the promoted Seagulls.

An ultimately comfortable victory, Chelsea's fourth in five games, moved the Premier League champions within a point of second-placed Manchester United.

Tweet of the match

"#CHEBRI difference between #CFC and #ManCity this year? City would NEVER play two holding midfielders against Brighton #dire". C helsea fan, comedian and actor Omid Djalili takes issue with Antonio Conte's cautious tactics.

Star man - Eden Hazard

Brighton simply could not get to grips with the Belgium international, especially in the second half. Unlucky not to cap another all-star display with a goal.

Moment of the match

Just 51 seconds had elapsed in the second half when Morata got in between Brighton's centre-halves and met Cesar Azpilicueta's cross with a fine header to put Chelsea ahead.
