CHELSEA
THIBAUT COURTOIS: Could do nothing about Christian Eriksen's strike. Otherwise rarely tested. 6
CESAR AZPILICUETA: Made an important block on Harry Kane late on. Typically composed. 7
DAVID LUIZ: Pulled out of position for Eriksen's opener but looks a smarter player under Antonio Conte. 6
GARY CAHILL: Forming a strong partnership with Luiz and has cut out last season's errors. Solid again. 7
VICTOR MOSES: The winger/wing-back's revival continues. His finish at the back post earned Chelsea a valuable three points. 8
MARCOS ALONSO: Offered his team an excellent outlet down the left and handled Dele Alli well. 7
N'GOLO KANTE: Quiet in the first half but much better in the second. 7
NEMANJA MATIC: Allowed Eriksen and Alli too much space early on but tightened up after half-time. 6
DIEGO COSTA: Provided the cross for Moses to put Chelsea ahead and noticeably avoided confrontation. 7
EDEN HAZARD: Not at his blistering best but a threat nonetheless. Taken off in the second half. 6
PEDRO: Showing finally why Chelsea bought him. Changed the game with a brilliant bending shot to make it 1-1. 8
SUBSTITUTES
WILLIAN (on for Hazard, 76): Missed a chance put the game to bed late on but added much-needed energy. 7
BRANISLAV IVANOVIC (on for Moses, 80): Added strength and experience to his side's rearguard late on. 6
OSCAR (on for Pedro, 82): Worked hard to defend Chelsea's lead. 6
TOTTENHAM
HUGO LLORIS: Occasionally careless in possession but blameless for either of Chelsea's goals. 5
KYLE WALKER: Tireless running going forward although both goals came down his flank. 6
ERIC DIER: Recovered from a difficult game in midweek. Looked more comfortable alongside Vertonghen. 7
JAN VERTONGHEN: Could perhaps have done more on the line to block Moses' finish. Marshalled Costa well. 6
KEVIN WIMMER: Left Moses unmarked for Chelsea's second. It proved a costly mistake. 5
VICTOR WANYAMA: Strong in the tackle and composed in possession. Impressive again. 7
MOUSA DEMBELE: A dominant force in midfield but crucially gave the ball away in the build-up to Moses' winner. 6
DELE ALLI: Looks happier with Kane back in the side but faded and was taken off. 6
CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN: Superb left-foot half volley opened the scoring but influence dwindled. 7
SON HEUNG-MIN: Lacking confidence and was substituted when Tottenham needed a goal. 5
HARRY KANE: Back to his busy best but struggled for chances. 6
SUBSTITUTES
HARRY WINKS (on for Son, 63): Tidy and certainly not over-awed by the occasion. 6
GEORGES-KEVIN NKOUDOU (on for Alli, 73): Made a difference with his pace, just lacked incision with his final ball. 7
VINCENT JANSSEN (on for Dembele, 82): Struggled to make an impact. 5
