West Ham to offer Fabregas an escape route out of Chelsea

By Jack de Menezes

Cesc Fabregas could be given a way out of Chelsea in January after London rivals West Ham expressed an interest in signing the midfielder on loan.

Fabregas is out of favour under Antonio Conte and has struggled with injury, his last appearance coming in the 3-0 defeat by his former club Arsenal. The 29-year-old was hauled off just before the hour, and the loss is not only Chelsea's last defeat, but also the last time they conceded.

The run of form Chelsea have shown since Fabregas was left out and Conte switched his formation to a 3-4-3 has convinced the Spaniard to leave to play more first-team football, and West Ham are ready to try and bring him in.

The Blues are ready to subsidise Fabregas' wages in order to offload him temporarily in January, with a permanent departure expected come the end of the season.

Fabregas could find himself a replacement for the Hammers' Dimitri Payet, with the midfielder hinting he could seek an exit.

Fabregas is unlikely to be the only departure, with both Jon Obi Mikel and Branislav Ivanovic also expected to leave.
