Gabbidon: We must be more clinical
Danny Gabbidon has called on West Ham's strikers to up their game as the Hammers battle to avoid relegation.
Avram Grant's side slipped to the foot of the Barclays Premier League table with a 3-0 hammering at Chelsea on Saturday. The scoreline flattered the champions and the Hammers had plenty of chances to score.
"It seems the same old story that we never take our chances," central defender Gabbidon told West Ham TV. "We play well and create and never get the result. So it is disappointing. We put in a lot of hard work and we had chances to score and when they had their chances, they took them."
He added: "For long parts of the game we did well and 3-0 is really disappointing.
"I can't really take any pride as a defender from my performance as we lost 3-0 so I am disappointed."
The Welshman insists, however, that a repeat display of the one at Stamford Bridge in the club's remaining fixtures against Manchester City, Blackburn, Wigan and Sunderland will ensure their survival.
"If we can show that kind of fight and performance in all aspects of the game, we can stay up," Gabbidon said.
