Gary Lineker blasts back at 'disrespectful' tweet as Watford slam pundit and Marco Silva
Watford have suffered just a single defeat in their last nine games in all competitions - the mood is high around Vicarage Road.
So what better time to rub it in the face of the doubters - primarily Match of the Day host Gary Lineker?
That's exactly what the club's official twitter account has done, bringing up a piece of criticism exactly one year on.
It's a year to the day that the Hornets sacked Marco Silva on the back on a run that had brought two wins in 12 matches. Everton had made an approach for the boss just a couple of months before and Watford cited that as the 'catalyst' for a 'significant deterioration' in results.
If the club hierarchy didn't forget that easily, neither have they let go of Gary Lineker's tweet questioning what he called the 'absurd decision' to oust Silva. "He’ll be snapped up very quickly and Watford will almost certainly get someone less talented," Lineker predicted.
Fast forward 365 days and Watford are thriving under Silva's replacement Javi Garcia, three points and four places above Everton, where Silva is reportedly under pressure already after his summer appointment
So what of Lineker's tweet? Well, it seems a Hornet never forgets.
Lineker, however, was quick to respond, highlighting what he saw as the 'disrespectful' nature of the club's tweet.

Yes, football can and will prove us wrong on many occasions, and I’ve already stated that that may be the case again here, but the sacking of managers is not something I often support and do find this tweet rather disrepectful of your former manager. https://t.co/wcfGYIycJE
Watford drew 2-2 with Silva's Everton as Goodison Park earlier this season - the two sides next come face to face at Vicarage Road on February 9.
