How Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has fared in games against Chelsea

Jose Mourinho takes his Manchester United side to Stamford Bridge for Sunday's Premier League clash with his former club Chelsea.

Here, Press Association Sport' looks back at how he has fared in matches against Chelsea, who have sacked him twice.

FIRST TIME'S A CHARM

Inter Milan 2 Chelsea 1, Champions League (February 24, 2010)

Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea manager in September 2007 and took over Inter Milan in June 2008. Mourinho's Inter were drawn against Chelsea in the last 16 of the 2009-10 Champions League. Goals from Diego Milito and Esteban Cambiasso earned Mourinho a win against Chelsea at his first attempt. Salomon Kalou had equalised for Chelsea early in the second half.

BACK AT THE BRIDGE

Chelsea 0 Inter Milan 1, Champions League ( March 16, 2010)

Mourinho was confident of a result and Samuel Eto'o's late goal saw off Chelsea as Inter marched towards the treble. The Special One had a mixed reception from the home support in what was a scrappy match. Didier Drogba was sent off late on but Mourinho showed little emotion at the home of his former team after a 3-1 aggregate win.

NOT SO SPECIAL

Chelsea 4 Manchester United 0, Premier League (October 23, 2016)

A second stint at Chelsea featured another Premier League title and an acrimonious conclusion. He returned to Stamford Bridge less than 12 months later as Manchester United boss. He was given a warm reception, but his team were behind to Pedro's goal after 30 seconds. Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante scored for Antonio Conte's men, with Mourinho less than happy with his opposite number's behaviour on the touchline.

THIRD TIME LUCKY

Chelsea 1 Manchester United 0, FA Cup (March 13, 2017)

Conte and Mourinho resumed rivalries in the FA Cup quarter-finals. It was a much tighter game this time, settled by Kante's second Chelsea goal, both against United. Ander Herrera saw red and Conte criticised United's tactics in targeting Hazard. Mourinho, meanwhile, reminded a section of Chelsea fans who had taunted him as "Judas" of his status as their most successful manager.

MOMENTUM SHIFTING

Manchester United 2 Chelsea 0, Premier League (April 16, 2017)

After two defeats, Mourinho finally got the better of Conte's title-chasing side at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford and Herrera were on target in an impressive performance from United, with Mourinho opting to deploy Herrera in a man-marking role on Hazard. Despite United's win, Chelsea secured the Premier League title in Conte's first season a month later.
