'I want to go to Liverpool' says Van Dijk as Manchester United's Aurier bid hits a stumbling block: all the transfer rumours
Southampton defender VIRGIL VAN DIJK has reiterated his desire to move to Anfield, according to today's transfer talk.
The Dutch international has, according to the Liverpool Echo, used showdown talks with boss Mauricio Pellegrino to underline his wish to leave the south coast. As a result, the newspaper reports that Van Dijk will continue to train alone, leaving Southampton with a major decision to make just over a week before the Premier League kicks off. The defender has already missed the club's training camp in France.
Liverpool were alleged to have tapped up the player earlier this summer when Saints reported them to the Premier League. The Reds publicly apologised as a result and now it is believed they will only make a move for Van Dijk if Southampton inform them that they are open to bids.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have agreed a £24 million fee for Paris St-Germain's right-back SERGE AURIER, according to the Daily Express. However, things aren't quite straight forward as Aurier is currently banned from entering the UK after being found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub in September last year, report the Daily Mirror. Aurier has lodged an appeal with the French courts, which is due to be held next week.
The Manchester Evening News have suggested that United have also made an enquiry about Anderlecht midfielder LEANDER DENDONCKER - but are not expected to sign the 22-year-old this summer.
The Liverpool Echo claim Everton are considering a move for 23-year-old Lazio defender WESLEY HOEDT, who is valued at £12million.
Chelsea are keen on making Inter Milan winger ANTONIO CANDREVA their latest signing, the Mirror are reporting.
