The January transfer window is still over two months away but the rumour mill is turning quickly.

Liverpool are behind Premier League leaders Manchester City only on goal difference and could soon receive a striking boost, if the rumours are to be believed. CalcioMercato have linked the Reds with a move for Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne. The 27-year-old has notched up six Serie A goals in only eight appearances this season and also scored the winner in his side's Champions League victory over Jurgen Klopp's boys earlier this month. The report, citing Rai Sport, claims the Reds will soon make a move for Insigne because Klopp is a huge supporter.

Meanwhile, over at Old Trafford, defensive additions are top of the bill according to the Guardian. Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic is on the list. The 20-year-old Serbian is highly rated and has been linked with a host of European football's top clubs. The price could be a stumbling block, with United valuing the players at around £30m, £10m short of his current club's valuation.

United's leaky defence has conceded 16 goals in nine Premier League matches and a proven Premier League solution could come in the form of Bournemouth's Nathan Aké. The 23-year-old joined his current side from Chelsea last summer but given the London club have also let go of the likes of Mohamed Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku in recent years, there is still plenty of time for the Dutch defender to make it at a top six side. Ake has also been strongly linked with Manchester City.

If the Manchester United chiefs would prefer a more experienced option, Kalidou Koulibaly could be the man for the job. The Napoli star, however, signed a new five year deal in recent months and would only be available for a significant sum.

Looking to the future and United are battling with Arsenal to sign Dylan Crowe, according to Football.London. The Ipswich full-back is also wanted by RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund but the Gunners are said to be in pole position for the 17-year-old who is yet to make his senior debut. Crowe played for England at this summer's UEFA U17 Championship.
