Liverpool target a THIRD RB Leipzig star but Van Dijk hopes still alive too: transfer rumours

Liverpool's scouts must be hard at work at Red Bull Leipzig's matches, if the latest transfer rumours are to be believed.

The Reds, of course, have already secured the services of Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, who will make the move to Anfield next summer. And last week, reports surfaced that Liverpool were eyeing up striker Timo Werner.

But the latest movements in the rumour mill have suggested that Liverpool's admiration of the German team don't stop there. They've now been linked with defender DAYOT UPAMECANO by German outlet Bild. The 18 year-old has made 12 appearances this season after joining the club from RB Salzburg in January for €10 million.

The Frenchman has played predominantly at right-back so far this term but at 6 foot 1, he is equally adept at centre-half.

However, Bild have also reported that Leipzig are preparing to tie their young defender down with a five-year contract that would contain an astonishing €100million buy-out clause.

However, Liverpool's hopes of landing their first choice defensive target aren't dead in the water just yet. That's after Matt Hughes of the Times claimed that Southampton boss and former Liverpool defender Mauricio Pellegrino would have "happily sold VIRGIL VAN DIJK during the summer to raise funds to strengthen his squad elsewhere, but was overruled by the Southampton board."

Meanwhile, absent Chelsea striker DIEGO COSTA is the subject of a £57.25 million offer from Atletico Madrid, who have told the Premier League champions to either take it or leave it, according to Spanish sports daily Marca.

DELE ALLI is not in talks over a new £100,000-a-week contract with Tottenham dismissing any speculation as just "rumours", according to the Daily Express.

Wales star JOE LEDLEY is on the radar of Derby after being released from Crystal Palace at the end of last season, reports the Derby Telegraph.

Paris St Germain look less likely to sign Chelsea star EDEN HAZARD after the striker told SFR Sport he would only return to the French Ligue 1 with his former side Lille.
