Liverpool target African left-sided star as Manchester United ready to break transfer record again: transfer rumours

Liverpool could be set to add a fourth African player to their ranks, if the latest transfer rumours are to be believed.

Napoli left-back FAOUZI GHOULAM is out of contract next summer and with an agent claiming he is unlikely to sign a new contract in Italy, the Mirror report that Liverpool have been alerted. The story says the Anfield club were one of a host of sides to make enquiries about the 26 year-old last season. Unless Ghoulam puts pen to paper on a new contract, his English admirers would be able to secure his signature on a pre-contract agreement come the turn of the year.

Meanwhile, Manchester United's pursuit of ANTOINE GRIEZMANN is back on, according to the Sun. United had been reported suitors of the Frenchman until his Atletico side were handed a transfer ban. That meant he remained in Spain during the summer and even signed a new contract, doubling his release clause to £184m according to the Manchester Evening News. That was only for one window according to reports and so, come January, United would be able to land the midfielder for a comparatively reasonable £92 million. And that, of course, would still be enough to make him United's record signing, beating Paul Pogba's £89 million fee.

Jose Mourinho is also interested in bringing Roma midfielder RADJA NAINGGOLAN to Old Trafford next summer, according to The Sun. The Manchester United boss sent scouts to watch the 29-year-old in action against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, eyeing him as a possible replacement for midfielder Michael Carrick, the paper says.

CARLTON COLE could be the striker Crystal Palace so urgently need, according to reports in the Daily Mirror. After an atrocious start to the season, with six losses and no goals, Palace appear ready to start their bid to persuade the 33-year-old free agent to move to Selhurst Park. New boss Roy Hodgson was dealt a blow after Christian Benteke injured his knee against Manchester City last week, and fellow striker Connor Wickham has also been sidelined through injury.

Leicester have received a boost in their bid to sign ADRIEN SILVA after FIFA confirmed the FA has requested the deal, which fell just outside of the transfer deadline, be "authorised", the Daily Mirror reports. The Foxes have sought to complete the £22million signing of the 28-year-old ever since Danny Drinkwater departed for Chelsea for a club-record fee. But FIFA put the brakes on after key documents were received 14 seconds after the cut-off point.

GABRIEL HEINZE is being targeted to takeover managerial duties at San Lorenzo, according to Spanish publication El Grafico. Diego Aguirre stepped aside after the team lost to Lanus in the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, with Claudio Biaggio filling in ever since. But the former Manchester United defender could become the permanent fixture that executives are looking for, the report says.

The Premier League could come calling for 19-year-old KEINAN DAVIS, according to the Daily Mirror. Manchester United, Arsenal and Everton all had scouts in the stands during Aston Villa's win against Burton, the paper reports, with the England under-20 forward finding the back of net in the 4-1 victory.

Arsenal may have to battle Real Madrid for the signature of Paris St Germain's JULIAN DRAXLER if reports of him being unsettled at the club turn out to be true, says the Daily Mirror. The Gunners have previously tried to bring the 24-year-old to the Emirates but with no luck. Now Real may also try to lure the forward away from the Parc des Princes in the next transfer window.
