Betting suspended on Philippe Coutinho making the move to Barcelona

One bookmaker has taken the step to suspend betting on Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho making the move to Barcelona in January.

Rumours that the Catalan giants have agreed a £128m agreement with Liverpool’s star man surfaced on Thursday morning, and after a string of telling bets, Betway are no longer offering odds on the transfer.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “His dream move to Barcelona didn’t materialise in summer, but we’re taking no risks on Philippe Coutinho being granted his wish in January after reports Liverpool have agreed a deal with the Catalan Giants.

“Jurgen Klopp has done little to quash the rumours when asked whether the Brazilian would be at Liverpool in February, yet further indication that Coutinho is destined to bid farewell to Anfield.

“After heightened betting activity on Thursday, running in line with reports a deal has been agreed, we’ve decided to suspend betting on the 24-year-old making the switch to the Nou Camp in the upcoming transfer window.”

Coutinho was questioned about the move after netting a hat-trick in Liverpool's 7-0 win over Spartak Moscow on Wednesday evening and refused to rule out a move in the New Year.

Other bookmakers still expect Coutinho to remain at Liverpool with Skybet rating the Brazilian as 1/5 to be a Liverpool player past the January window.
