Brendan Rodgers: No rift between me and Raheem Sterling

By Steven Beacom

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has insisted he has no hard feelings towards Manchester City bound Raheem Sterling.

There had been speculation that Sterling, set to sign for City in a £49million deal, had fallen out with Rodgers and suggestions the 20-year-old did not want to play for the Reds boss any more.

Rodgers, though, speaking in Bangkok during Liverpool's pre-season tour yesterday, said he'd no problems with the England star, who last season turned down a new contract making it clear he wanted to leave Anfield.

"I spoke to Raheem at length again before I left yesterday, so there is no issue and no problem," said the Carnlough native.

"Two clubs have agreed a deal and subject to a medical he will move on. At this moment in time the interest is with the players that are here."

Sterling expects to complete his big money move to City this week.
