Conte slams Chelsea as Klopp's men stroll home

By Steven Beacom

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte blasted his players after they were comfortably defeated 2-1 by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.

It was Conte's first loss as Chelsea boss and prevented his side going top of the table.

Dejan Lovren gave Liverpool an early lead and Jordan Henderson scored a stunner before the break to put Jurgen Klopp's men in control. Diego Costa gave Chelsea fans some hope in the second half, but the visitors were rarely troubled after that as they picked up maximum points.

Italian Conte was angry at the lack of focus in the first period from his side. He stated: "When you want to think like a great team you must pay attention in every moment what happens on the pitch. We conceded the goals in a strange way. I must work more to improve my players. Defeats are never good. We know this, we must work and keep our concentration."

In contrast, Klopp, who hailed Henderson's wonder strike, was overjoyed.

"It was brilliant, especially the first half," said the German, whose side moved into fourth spot with the victory.

"We started the game from the first second. We had unbelievably good movement."
