Klopp's joy as Sturridge hits brilliant brace

By Steven Beacom

Daniel had a smile back on his face after his double gave Liverpool a 2-1 victory over Tottenham, sending the Reds into the last eight of the League Cup.

It has been a frustrating season for Sturridge, who has yet to score in the Premier League and often found himself out of the starting line-up, but at Anfield last night he gave manager Jurgen Klopp something to think about.

"It's a nice feeling (to be back). I'm grateful to God for helping me get through all the things I've had to go through and I'm happy," said Sturridge.

Klopp added: "He did what he has to do. It was brilliant, he could have scored three or four."

Arsenal, Newcastle, Leeds and Hull joined Liverpool in the quarter-finals.
