Liverpool want FOUR of Europe's hottest stars: Premier League transfer rumours
Liverpool look set to mount a serious title challenge but Jurgen Klopp isn't ready to rest on his laurels, according to the latest transfer rumours.
The club have been linked with moves for three top players, the first of which could even arrive this month.
That's Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie, for whom Jurgen Klopp is considering tabling a £20m offer, according to the Daily Mail. The 20-year-old is known as a ball-winner and has also played at centre-back as well as further forward in attacking midfield. His versatility is no doubt a factor in Klopp's alleged interest. McKennie's current contract runs out in 2022 but the Reds are said to be confident that they could seal a deal for around £20m.
Next up, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile will be subject of a Liverpool scouting mission when he plays in Napoli this weekend, according to Il Messaggero. The report suggests that the Reds could use their positive relationship with the Italian club to secure a deal for the 28-year-old, who has scored 72 Serie A goals over the last two-and-a-half seasons. The article does, however, warn that it would take a bid of €100m to force Lazio to sell this month.
Another striker that could be set for a switch to Anfield is Red Bull Leipzig's Timo Werner. The Evening Standard names the 22-year-old as a potential recruit this summer to replace the supposedly outgoing Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi. The German international has scored 14 goals this season and, according to Bild, could be let go for €40m.
Finally, Liverpool have had a €70m bid for a teenager turned down according to Correio da Manhã. The report claims that the Reds have bid for Benfica's attacking midfielder Joao Felix. The Portuguese talent has made only four starts in the Primeira Liga but has already has a reported €120m release clause in his contract.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are seeking to tie down Marcus Rashford with a bumper pay deal as big clubs such as Real Madrid and Juventus look to target the 21-year-old, the Mirror reports. United are poised to double the forward’s wages to £150,000 a week, it says, in the hope to tempt their star man to a long-term deal at Old Trafford.
Chelsea are hoping to convince Callum Hudson-Odoi to stay at Stamford Bridge with a £70,000-a-week offer, the Mirror says. Despite all signs suggesting the 18-year-old wants to walk away from the Blues, the club are reluctant to let go of their forward, who is said to be wanted by Bayern Munich.
Ashley Cole could be teaming up with his former Chelsea team-mate Frank Lampard – this time at Derby. The Mail says Lampard, who took on his first managerial role with the Championship side in May last year, is confident free-agent Cole can bolster the Rams’ promotion chances, with talks between the former colleagues under way.
With Harry Kane side-lined with an ankle injury, Tottenham are on the look out for a forward this transfer window, according to the Independent. It says Spurs could potentially turn to previous targets Malcolm and Antonio Sanabria to try to strengthen their attacking options.
