Liverpool's betting partner suspends market on Van Dijk's future

Liverpool FC's global online betting partner is one of the companies who have suspended betting on Virgil Van Dijk's future.

BetVictor, whose company name appears on Liverpool's training kit, joined Ladbrokes in suspending betting on the Netherlands international. And the accompanying emoji on their tweet is adding to the excitement amongst Liverpool supporters after Ladbrokes confirmed they had suspended the market on Van Dijk moving to Anfield.

The Southampton defender had been reported to be close to sealing a move to Manchester City over the weekend but the Liverpool Echo insisted the Reds were still in the transfer tussle and were willing to match their north west rivals' financial clout.

Liverpool have also today been linked with moves for Lyon striker Alexandere Lacazette and former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah. Read about those links and all today's other transfer rumours, including who Manchester United are turning their attentions to: Liverpool close in on trio of big names and today's other transfer rumours.

Van Dijk would be the sixth Southampton player to move to Liverpool in recent seasons. Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Rickie Lambert all moved to Anfield in 2014, followed a year later by Nathaniel Clyne. Sadio Mané continued the flow of players last summer and now could be joined by Van Dijk.

The centre-half moved to the Saints from Celtic in 2015 for a reported £11.5 million and has been the subject of much speculation regarding his future despite signing a new six year contract at Southampton last summer.
