Two Liverpool players nominated for UEFA Champions League awards
Uefa have announced their shortlist for the Champions League annual awards ceremony that takes place on August 30th at the Champions League draw in Monaco.
Two Liverpool players have been included in Mohamed Salah and goalkeeper Alisson, for his performances for former club Roma.
The jury comprised of the coaches of the 32 clubs in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League group stage, together with 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media (ESM) group, representing each of UEFA's member associations. Coaches were not allowed to vote for players from their own teams.
Jury members chose their top three players per position, with the first receiving five points, the second three and the third one. The three players who got the most points in each category made up the final shortlist.
New Liverpool stopper joins defending Goalkeeper of the Year Gianluigi Buffon as-well as Real Madrid’s Keylor Navas.
Real Madrid trio Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and World Cup winner Raphaël Varane make up the list for the defenders.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne joins Real Madrid duo Toni Kroos and Luka Modric for the midfielders accolade.
