Man City and Middlesbrough reach fourth round of FA Cup

Steven Ireland and Darius Vassell were on target for Manchester City last night as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the FA Cup.

The Premiership side will now go on to face Southampton in the fourth round of the competition.

Middlesbrough, meanwhile, beat Hull 4-3 at the Riverside, while League One side Bristol City beat Championship outfit Coventry 2-0.

Elsewhere, Ipswich, Wolverhampton and Plymouth also progressed, while Luton's replay against QPR was called off due to an unplayable pitch.

Three Premiership sides are in action in the competition tonight, with Fulham host Leicester, Newcastle take on Birmingham and Tottenham entertain Cardiff City.
