Manchester City are in need of pick-up: Manuel Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini accepts his team needs an upturn in form to prevent a season that promised unprecedented success from fizzling out.

City won the Capital One Cup, but their quadruple quest ended with FA Cup and Champions League elimination – to Wigan and Barcelona respectively – in the past week.

They have lost four of their last seven games, in all competitions, a clear loss of form after winning 18 and drawing twice in the previous 20.

City's sole focus is now their Premier League title challenge, but they have slipped to fourth and are nine points behind leaders Chelsea, although with three games in hand and today they travel to Hull.

Pellegrini said: "We have felt a little bit the 18 games that we played in two months.

"It's important to win on Saturday; then we have same as Liverpool and Arsenal, a week to prepare for every match."
