City looking to the future with deal for Sandler
Manchester City have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Dutch youth international Philippe Sandler.
The reigning Premier League champions announced the arrival of the 21-year-old from PEC Zwolle yesterday afternoon.
A versatile player, Sandler can also play defensive midfield as well as centre-back.
Sandler, a Holland Under-20 international, came through the ranks at Ajax before moving on to their Eredivisie rivals and is likely to be one for the future at the Etihad Stadium.
It is believed the fee is somewhere in the region of £2.6m - a record sale for the Dutch club - which was agreed back in January, with Sandler returning to Zwolle for the remainder of last season.
He is City's third signing of the summer after the arrivals of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City and 18-year old midfielder Claudio Gomez from Paris St-Germain.
