Head to head: Marouane Fellaini and Sergio Aguero argue before the Manchester United ace’s headbutt

Jose Mourinho claimed he didn't see Marouane Fellaini's red card for a headbutt last night but then suggested Sergio Aguero over-reacted to get the Belgian sent off.

Fellaini saw red for headbutting Aguero six minutes from the end as Manchester City retained a slim advantage in their top-four battle with Manchester United following a frantic goalless draw at the Etihad Stadium.

United boss Mourinho said: "I didn't watch but I can guess it's a bit of a red card and a bit of a very smart, very experienced Argentinian player.

"Marouane Fellaini is frustrated. He says that with another player it would probably not be a red card."

City boss Pep Guardiola said: "We controlled it and created enough chances to win. They had two."
