Manchester United could be set to land a flurry of new talent, according to the latest transfer rumours.

Jose Mourinho didn't seem overly enamoured with his current options as he refused to answer where or not he thought his panel could challenge for the Premier League title.

And so, he's being linked with plenty of star players.

The first is Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara. The Daily Mail claim that both United and Chelsea are interested in shelling out £62m for the Spanish star but add that his current employers aren't willing to let him leave. The club are said to have held talks to convince him to stay, with CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge adamant that Thiago won't be going anywhere.

If that's a no-go, United could add some attacking flair in the form of Croatia's Ante Rebic. Mourinho is determined to land a wide player and is being forced into looking at alternatives to first-choice Willian. With a likely £80m pricetag accompanying Ivan Perisic, his Croatian team-mate could be the man to fit Mourinho's bill. The 24-year-old wouldn't have the same complications, with Rebic seemingly ready to step up from current club Eintracht Frankfurt. The only barrier may be the interest of Bayern Munich.

In defence, United could look to Barcelona defender Yerry Mina. The Colombian scored three times at the World Cup and chiefs at Old Trafford are preparing a bid, according to RMC. The report says Lyon have bid €30m but face competition from United. Mina started just four La Liga games after joining Barca in January and has been widely linked with a move away, Liverpool and Everton also mentioned as potential suitors.
